ELECT

INDEPENDENT – My roots are deeply imbedded in Liberty and Justice: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men [mankind] are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness [Property]. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." These words from the Declaration of Independence are more than literature to me, they are the mission statement for this nation.

UNAFFILIATED – The Personal Choice Party of Utah is a coalition of independent thinking citizens working to gain the Human Liberty promised by victory in the War for Independence. It requires no formal commitments and asks only that individuals respect each other as equals, respect their opinions, and respect the choices they make. It facilitated my filing as a candidate without placing any party limits or conditions on my beliefs.

UNBIASED – Biodegradable human characteristics (race, creed, color, sex, religion, social and economic status, etc.) have no place in the business of governing. Individual Liberty demands that Justice be blinded once again.


 

Government in these United States is about people. It is not about parties, corporations, or dictatorial power. Our form of government was instituted by the people in 1789 to secure the unalienable individual Rights of people for all the people. Our Democratic-Republican form requires that all the citizens be aware, informed, and actively participate. The practice of power party politics isolates the general public from the business of government.

Open meetings and publicly monitored business sessions.
Public dissemination of honest and complete information about all government business.
Public participation and input by the majority of Weber County residents on all issues effecting their lives.
To represent the public general will, to protect the rights of individuals, and to faithfully manage the public trust.
To improve Weber County through careful planning, wise development and equitable regulation.


 

The future for Weber County is bright. It is a diverse area, one of the most beautiful on earth, ranging from mountain heights to lake shore and inhabited by citizens as varied and fascinating as the topography. It has a history of opportunity, hard work and industry. With the wide scope of locally available expertise and the natural features of the area, there is nothing to stop our county from exploding into the Twenty-First Century.

The need for locally anchored businesses which reinvest their profits locally and are capable of providing hundreds, if not thousands of good paying jobs cannot be minimized. Storm runoff, waste water treatment, transportation, and other community infrastructure needs are priorities. The availability of sufficient, clean water is a problem that conservation alone cannot solve. The answer to our needs lies with the people!

THE PEOPLE ARE THE GOVERNMENT!

Government in these United States is Of the People, By the People, and For the People! Government is about people and their inter-personal dealings. It is not about business, political parties, and special interests. The current system of politics is a corruption of the ideals of the Revolution which culminated in the Declaration of Independence and the War for Independence which followed. That Revolution wrested the business of governing out of the hands of the aristocracy and gave it to the citizens. With all of the world, national, state and local problems, it is time for the people to assume responsibility for their own government!

A well founded premise of quality management is: A little extra time and a few extra pennies spent in planning saves big time and many dollars in modification. The earth belongs to the living, not the dead, and what are we going to leave to posterity? Many of the problems which are being encountered along the Wasatch Front have developed because no one stepped back and looked to the future asking, "What will be in twenty or thirty years?" It is for those living now to compensate for the errors of the past, learn from them, and deliver a better home to future generations.

Democratic-Republican government is democracy which uses representatives to facilitate regulating the affairs of people when the population is too large to practice pure democracy. Democracy requires that a majority of the citizens reach a consensus on any given issue. Not a majority of the vocal minority or special interest! Liberty is denied to any who is not a part of the vocal minority or special interest. Public participation is vital to democracy—participation keeps despots and dictators in check. President Clinton was elected by less than 25% of eligible voters, President Bush by about 30%. Taxes are raised and money spent by even smaller numbers. The people must make their voice heard! The people must participate!

Representatives are to be chosen who will represent the will of the people, the majority of citizens, not their party or other special interests. Party platforms are, after all, a statement of special interests!

Liberty requires participation to preserve. Liberty protects the individual Rights of citizens. Liberty harnesses democracy with Justice and this is to be a land "with Liberty and Justice for all!"

I WILL REPRESENT THE PEOPLE, NOT MY PARTY OR OTHER SPECIAL INTERESTS!

I am grassroots, independent of party and special interest, and I will be a steward for the public trust. It is difficult to obtain consensus from a varied population, but all cultures, creeds, all people have something to offer that will benefit society in general if they will but look within themselves. I will keep the public well informed on all matters and details, and I will actively seek to find the will of the people in all matters of county government.
